Title: Sign of aneurysmal bone cyst on CT and MR imaging
Abstract: Objective To approach aneurysmal bone cyst display of CT and MRI,and the diagnostic value in this disease. Methods We reviewed 43 cases of aneurysmal bone cyst which had been confirmed by pathology. Fourteen cases were examined by the plain scan of CT, 19 cases were examined by the enhancement scanning of MRI, 10 cases were examined by both the plain scan of CT and the enhancement scanning of MRI. Results On plain radiography, the appearances of the aneurysmal bone cyst were expanding bony destruction. On the plain scan of CT, the appearances of the aneurysmal bone cyst were the various expansile changes. In destruction of bone, the capsular districts and septation can be seen. On MR T1WI and T2WI, we can see the low signal ring of the diseased region borderline, the diseased region bulk was full of fluid which has miscellaneous signals, it can be seen the low or slightly high signal. In the diseased region, the septation which have low signals both on the T1WI and T2WI can be seen. On enhancement scanning, the ring of the diseased region and septation in the diseased region distinctly enhanced. Conclusion CT and MRI are very valuable in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of the aneurysmal bone cyst.
