Title: Study on flow stress of Mg-3Al-1Zn-0.8Nd alloy at hot compression
Abstract: Hot compression tests of Mg-3Al-1Zn-0.8Nd magnesium alloy which contains rare earth Nd were performed on a thermo-mechanical simulator Gleeble-1500D in the deformation temperature range from 250℃ to 450℃ and strain rate range between 0.01~1s~(-1).The results show that the flow stress of the alloy is influenced by deformation temperature and strain rates strongly.The flow stress decreases as deformation temperature increases.The flow stress increases with increasing strain rate.However,no significant change of the flow stress is observed at deformation temperature of 450℃ and strain rate of 0.01s~(-1).The dependence of flow stress on deformation temperature and strain rate can be described by power exponent equation.The hot deformation activation energy of the alloy is 154.064kJ·mol.
