Title: Outcomes of percutaneous nephrolithotripsy with pneumatic and ultrasonic power guided by B-type ultrasound for treatment of upper urinary calculi
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the feasibility and safety of percutaneous nephrolithotripsy(PCNL) with pneumatic and ultrasonic power under ultrasound guidance in the treatment of upper urinary calculi. Methods Data of 82 cases with upper urinary calculi underwent PCNL were retrospectively analyzed. Results The percutaneous renal access guided by B-type ultrasound was successfully established in all patients,of whom 5 patients were via two tracts and 1 patient via three tracts.Operation time ranged from 30 to 130 minutes. No severe complications occurred during nephrolithtripsy.Fever over 38.5℃ in three days after operation was seen in 10 cases.Stones were cleared in 73 cases (89%),residual stone fragment was found in 9 cases, who received second PCNL or extracorporal shock wave lithotripsy.Conclution Percutaneous nephrolithotripsy with pneumatic and ultrasonic power under B-type ultrasound guidance for treatment of upper urinary calculi is effective and safe.
