Title: Percutaneous nephrolithotomy with pneumatic and ultrasonic lithotripter guided by B ultrasound for complex renal calculi
Abstract: Objective To study the efficiency and safety of percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL) with pneumatic and ultrasonic lithotripter under the guide of B ultrasound for complex renal calculi. Methods Data of 100 patients(102 kidneys) underwent PCNL using the EMS IV pneumatic and ultrasonic lithotripter were analyzed retrospectively. Results The average of operative time was 100 minutes, the total stone-free rate was 91.2%.Nine cases were found to have residual stones less than 1.0 cm in diameter after operation. The patients received ESWL treatment two weeks later,of whom one case received hyperselective renal artery embolization because of bleeding after operation. Conclusion PCNL with pneumatic and ultrasonic lithotripter guided by B ultrasound is a safe and less traumatic method with high success rate for the treatment of complex renal calculi.
