Title: The effect of Metoprolol on blood glucose in patients with diastolic hypertension
Abstract: Objective: To study the effect of Metoprolol on blood glucose in patients with diastolic hypertension. Methods:100 patients with diastolic hypertension were divided into control group and observation group( 50 cases in each group). The control group was given conventional treatment; on this basis, the observation group was given Metoprolol. Observation of 24 months, fasting blood glucose and 2h postprandial blood glucose were measured before and after treatment. Results: In the observation group, diastolic blood pressure before treatment was( 108. 5 ± 8. 9) mmHg,and diastolic blood pressure 24 months after treatment was( 78. 2 ± 7. 8) mmHg,there was statistical difference( t = 18. 10,P 0. 05). In the control group, diastolic blood pressure before treatment was( 112. 8 ± 10. 8) mmHg,and diastolic blood pressure 24 months after treatment was( 67. 4 ± 12. 1) mmHg,there was statistical difference( t = 19. 80,P 0. 05). There was no significant difference between the two groups( P 0. 05). Conclusion: The effect of Metoprolol in the treatment of diastolic hypertension is better, but can cause hyperglycemia, attention should be paid to monitoring of blood glucose.
