Title: Effect of fluoxetine and escitalopram on peripheral blood erythrocyte immune function in elderly patients with depression
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effect of fluoxetine and escitalopram on peripheral blood erythrocyte immune function in elderly patients with depression. Methods One hundren elderly patients with depression were randomly divided into fluoxetine group( n = 50) and escitalopram group( n = 50). The fluoxetine group was given fluoxetine treatment and escitalopram group was given escitalopram treatment. The DTER,RBC-C3 bRR,RBC-ICR and clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results In escitalopram group, the DTER and RBC-C3 bRR significantly decreased, the RBC-ICR significantly increased, compared with fluoxetine group, the differences were significant( P 0. 05). The clinical effects of two groups( 86. 0%vs 90. 0%) had no significant difference( P 0. 05). Conclusion Escitalopram can effectively improve the peripheral blood erythrocyte immune function of elderly patients with depression, the effect is better than that of fluoxetine. Fluoxetine or escitalopram treatment is similar in the clinical curative effect of elderly patients with depression.
