Title: Analysis of the Status Quo of Postgraduate English Teaching and Its Reform
Abstract: Abstrcat In this article some problems in Chinese postgraduate English teaching are described, such as the repetition of offering courses, the out-of-date teaching content and teaching methods, lack of scientificity in testing and evaluation and low efficiency in teaching. The great discrepancy between the teaching status quo and the postgraduates' practical needs of language results mainly from the backwardness of teaching syllabus, teaching ideas and the qualities of teachers. Accordingly, the author asserts that a systematic reform must be carried out in the revision of teaching syllabus, in the change of teaching ideas, in the improvement of teachers' qualities, in the adjustment of offering courses and in the establishment of a scientific testing and evaluation system. Only in this way can postgraduates' linguistic competence be really improved.
