Title: Tobacco Control Monitoring in 99 Public Places in Jinshan District of Shanghai City
Abstract: [Objective]To understand the understanding,implementation and support of personnel in public places to the Regulations on Tobacco Control in Public Places of Shanghai, and then provide the basis for the government to develop tobacco control policies and strategies. [Methods]]Public places in this district were selected randomly.The state of tobacco control facilities was investigated,and the face-to-face questionnaire was performed on the personnel to understand their smoking status. [Results]The smoking rate of male was 61.75%,that of female was 3.11%.The ages of starting smoking most concentrated in the range of 16-30 years,accounting for 90.44%.Of the causes of starting smoking,to try and social needs was the main reason.60.56% was not ready to quit smoking while 28.49% expressed their intention to quit smoking.44.35% had the experience of passive smoking in the last 7 working days.95.76% had heard about Regulations on Tobacco Control in Public Places of Shanghai ,89.44% expressed their support for the new tobacco control regulations.For smoking staff,52.94% of the public places had appropriate measures for prevention,while 47.06% had no measures. [Conclusion]The smoking state and intention to quit smoking of personnel in public places was not optimistic.There are high support on the new regulations and perfect advocacy of tobacco control in public places.However,some measures are not effectively implemented so that tobacco control department needs further strengthen advocacy and monitoring.
