Title: Expression and significance of β-catenin and cyclinD1 in breast carcinoma
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the expression and the significance of β-catenin and cyclinD1 in breast carcinoma. Methods: Using immunohistochemical staining technique to detect the expression of β-catenin and cyclinD1 in 65 cases of breast carcinoma tissue samples, and studying their expression in cases with different clinical patho-parameter. Results: The aberrant expression of β-catenin was found in 42 cases (64.25%), the significant difference in the rate of β-catenin positive expression was found respectively in different tumor size (P0.01), in different age (P0.01), in different pathological grading (P0.05), in different TNM-classification tumor(P0.01), in different ER expression (P0.01) and PR expression (P0.01). The overexpression of cyclinD1 was found in 30 cases(46.15%), the significant difference was found in different pathological grading, in different TNM-classification tumor, in different lymph node metastasis status and in different PR expression (P0.01). The aberrant expression of β-catenin in the patients with overexpression of cyclinD1 is higher than others significantly (P0.05~0.01). Conclusion: The aberrant expression of β-catenin is related with the progression and metastasis of breast carcinoma through the activation of an cyclinD1 gene activation and inducing the tumor cell proliferation and malignant transformation.
