Title: Hydroxylic hyperbranched poly(ester-amine)s and their ambient curable coatings
Abstract: Hyperbranched polymers have potential use as non-solvent,ambient curable coating materials due to their unique structures and properties. An AB_2 monomer,N,N-di-β-hydroxylpropyl-3-amine methylpropionate(defined as MB) was prepared from methyl acrylate and diisopropanolamine through Michael addition.Molar ratios between the core monomer trimethylolpropane(defined as TMP) and the MB monomer of 1∶9 and 1∶21 gave two hydroxylic hyperbranched polyesters with different molar mass prepared using a pseudo one step procedure. In absence of solvent, these polymers directly reacted with hexamethylene diisocyanate(HDI) with ambient conditions to form curing coatings with gel mass fractions higher than 0.90.The self-plasticizing of these molecules gives the coatings an anti-impact strength of 50 cm·kg.
