Title: Concurrent Sorption of Cu(II),Ni (II),Pb(II)by Modified Kaolin as a Function of pH in Ternary Metal Solution
Abstract: Sorption of Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ)and Pb(Ⅱ)by modified kaolin from ternary metal solution,as a function of pH and metal concentrations via central composite design generated by Design Expert 8.0 was studied, while three significant cubic equations were established with coefficients of correlation more than 0.95 respectively. The experimental result revealed that metal interactions could be best designed at lower pH range of 4.0~5.0,in order to avoid precipitation. The sorption rate for single metal decreased in the order Pb(Ⅱ)Cu(Ⅱ)Ni(Ⅱ).In a binary system, increasing Ni(Ⅱ)concentration exhibited protection against the inhibitory effect of Pb(Ⅱ)and Cu(Ⅱ).On the other hand, sorption of Pb(Ⅱ)was inhibited by Cu(Ⅱ)and Ni(Ⅱ).Cu(Ⅱ) sorption remained unaffected by Pb(Ⅱ) at lower pH,but was in reverse at higher pH.Increasing Cu(Ⅱ)concentration exhibited protection against the inhibitory effect of Ni(Ⅱ).
