Title: Effect of matrine on levels of TGF-β_1, TNF-α,HA and PcIII in sera of chronic hepatitis B patients
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the mechanism of therapeutic effect of matrine on liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B.Methods:The levels of transforming growth factor-β 1 ( TGF-β 1), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), hyaline acid (HA) and type Ⅲ procollagen (PcⅢ) were detected in 246 patients with chronic mild, moderate, severe hepatitis B and liver cirrhosis in group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ (matrine group) before treatment and three months after treatment by ELISA and RIA, and 35 healthy donors served as normal group. Results:The serum levels of TGF-β 1, TNF-α, HA and PcⅢ in patients with chronic hepatitis B increased notably than those of normal groups, and difference was obvious between CHB and normal group (P0.05 or P0.01) .The serum levels of TGF-β 1, TNF-α, HA and PcⅢ decreased notably than those before treatment, after treatment with matrine. The serum levels of TGF-β 1, TNF-α, HA and PcⅢ significantly decreased compared with the ones before treatment (P0.05 or P0.01), and there was significant difference in patients with chronic moderate, severe hepatitis B and liver cirrhosis between post treatment group Ⅱ and post treatment group Ⅰ (P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusions: Matrine reverses the liver fibrosis with therapeutic effect on liver fibrosis, this is partly by inhibiting secretions of TGF-β 1 and TNF-α, and the patients have a good tolerance to it.
