Title: Fabrication of High Silicon Aluminum Alloy Powders by Solid Medium Atomization Process
Abstract: A novel solid atomization technology is developed with a highvelocity gas jet stream containing solid particles as the atomization medium. The energy of the medium can be efficiently used in this technology. The iron powders, which can be easily removed by magnetic separation, are chosen as atomization medium to atomize high silicon Al alloy. The experimental result shows that in contrast to conventional gas atomization, the finer powder with high cooling rate can be obtained by the new developed technology under the same process parameter condition, and the fine powder yield is evaluated.
