Title: Therapeutic Effect of Lu Huang Shen Hua Capsules Combined with Fosinopril in Treatment of Diabetic Nephropathy:A Report of 60 Cases
Abstract: Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine therapy in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy(DN)and to establish a comprehensive evaluation system for the treatment outcome in DN patients.Methods A total of 120patients with Mogensen stage ⅢandⅣ DN were included in the study.They were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. The treatment group received Lu Huang Shen Hua(LHSH)Capsules combined with fosinopril,while the control group received fosinopril alone.The course of treatment was 3months for both groups.The two groups were compared in terms of clinical outcome and improvement in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome.Before and after treatment,the urinary albumin excretion rate(UAER),renal function,blood pressure,blood glucose, and blood lipid were measured,and the quality of life(QOL)was assessed using the World Health Organization's Quality of Life Questionnaire-Brief Version.Results Compared with those in control group,the patients with Mogensen stageⅢ and Ⅳ DN in treatment group had a significantly better clinical outcome(P 0.05)and a significantly more improvement in TCM syndrome(P0.05).After treatment,the patients with Mogensen stage Ⅲ DN in treatment group had significantly lower UAER,serum creatinine,and blood urea nitrogen than their counterparts in control group(P0.05or P0.01),and the patients with Mogensen stageⅢandⅣ DN in treatment group had significantly higher scores of physiological health, psychological health,overall QOL,and satisfaction than their counterparts in control group(P0.05or P0.01).No adverse events were seen in either group.Conclusion LHSH Capsules combined with fosi-nopril can effectively reduce urinary protein excretion and improve renal function and QOL in patients with early DN.This study provides a new evaluation system for the treatment outcome in DN patients.
