Title: Airfoil design for tailless configurations using DISC algorithm
Abstract: The DISC(Direct Iterative Surface Curvature) algorithm couples with Navier-Stokes equations are used to design airfoils for tailless configurations. The results of NLF1015 and RAE2822 show that the DISC algorithm is efficient for subsonic and transonic airfoil design. For airfoil redesign, pressure distributions in the shock regions of the BWB inboard airfoil are modified in order to reduce wave drag, and the DISC algorithm is used to redesign the airfoil. For new airfoil design, the Genetic Algorithm(GA) has been applied to optimize target pressure distributions with aerodynamic and geometric constrains, once the target pressure distributions are obtained, the corresponding airfoil can be gained by the DISC algorithm, the inboard airfoil of low aspect ratio tailless configuration has been studied, the design result indicates the method is feasible and efficient.
