Title: Catalytic Synthesis of Phenyl Benzoate by Sulfamic Acid
Abstract: Benzyl benzoate is synthesized by benzoic acid and phenyl methanol with sulfamic acid as catalyst. The influencing factors to the esterification ratio in the reaction are studied.Experimental results indicate that the optimal condition is as follow:0.05 mol benzoic acid,0.4g sulfamic acid, molar ratio of benzyl alcohol to benzoic acid 3∶1,dehydrating agent(toluene) 15 ml,reaction time 120 mins and the temperature 140~160 ℃.The yield can reach up to over 72.7%.
