Title: Correlation between VEGF-C mRNA expression and lymph node metastasis in breast cancer
Abstract: Objective To study the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C) in breast cancer and its correlation with clinicopathological indexes of lymph node metastasis. Methods Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) method was adopted in detecting VEGF-CmRNA expression in 60 cases of breast infiltrative tubular cancer. We took 15 cases of breast fibroadenoma as controls. Results The positive rate and degree of VEGF-CmRNA expression were higher in the breast cancer group than in the control group (P0.01). VEGF-CmRNA expression was significantly higher in the lymph node metastasis-positive group than in lymph node metastasis-negative group (P0.05). VEGF-CmRNA expression was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis (r=0.638,P0.01). Conclusion VEGF-CmRNA expression was higher in breast cancer and it promoted lymph node metastasis in breast cancer.
