Title: Application and analysis of 1000 Hz high frequency tympanometry in neonatal hearing screening
Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship between 1 000 Hz high frequency tympanometry and distortion product otoasoustic emission( DPOAE),and the significance of application of high frequency tympanometry in hearing screening. Methods 1 000 Hz tympanometry and DPOAE were administered to 50 infants who passed automatic auditory brainstem response( AABR) and the results were analyzed. Results 1Among 100 ears,71 ears passed DPOAE in which 1 000 Hz tympanometry showed that 78 ears were normal. While,71 ears passed DPOAE in which 5 ears( 7. 04%) were abnormal in 1 000 Hz tympanometry; 29 ears failed DPOAE in which 17 ears( 58. 62%) were abnormal in 1 000 Hz tympanometry. The abnormal rates in 1 000 Hz frequency tympanometry between these 2 groups were significant different( P 0. 001). 2Part of the infants who passed the AABR were abnormal in DPOAE and 1 000 Hz tympanometry( 29%,22%). Conclusion High frequency 1 000 Hz tympanometry could be used as an assistant mean for hearing screening,it is important for evaluating the nature of hearing loss and the treatment of hearing loss.
