Title: Application of DPOAE and Impedance Audiometry in screening high-risk newborns
Abstract: Objective To investigate what caused the failure of the newborns who failed in the first hearing screening in neonatal intensive care nursery (NICU).Methods 166 high-risk newborns were tested with DPOAE. Those who failed in DPOAE were tested with Impedance Audiometry immediately. Results 38 newborns who failed to pass the first hearing screening all presented Type A tympanograms. Conclusion The results show that the newborns who failed in DPOAE hearing screening are not obviously associated with the external canal or middle ear diseases.
