Title: The expression of survivin protein in lung and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Abstract: Objective: To investigate the expressions of survivin protein in esophageal and lung squamous cell carcinoma. Methods:The expressions of survivin protein in esophageal and lung squamous cell carcinoma sample were detected using immunohistochemical staining. Results: The expressions of survivin in lung and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma were high. Survivin positive staining was located mainly in cytoplasm, partly in nuclear, and partly in nuclear and cytoplasm. The differences of survivin expression in cytoplasm in patients age, cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis of tumor were not statistically significant( P 0. 05). The survival rate of patients with lung squamous cell carcinoma complicated with survivin expression in cytoplasm was lower than that in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma( P 0. 05). Conclusions: The expression of survivin in cytoplasm is not related to the tumor type. The expression of survivin in cytoplasm is not related to the characteristics of lung and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. The expression of survivin in cytoplasm is related to the prognosis of lung and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
