Title: Comparative study of the impact of myomectomy and hysterectomy on ovarian function
Abstract: Objective To explore the impact of hysterectomy on ovarian function, through a clinical comparative study of myomectomy and hysterectomy in treating uterine fibroids.MethodsNinety cases of uterine fibroids treated from January 2010 to January 2012 were divided into observation group and the control group based on their treatment sequence,45 cases for each group.Observation group underwent myomectomy, while control group received hysterectomy. Both groups were compared for the levels of estradiol(E2),serum follicle stimulating hormone(FSH) and luteotropic hormone(LH) before surgery,6 and 12 months after surgery.Measurement data were processed withttest, count data with theχ2test,the result ofP0.05 was considered to be statistically significant.ResultsSix months after surgery, the levels of E2,FSH and LH were(50.76±1.49)pg/ml,(7.26±1.26)and(7.36±1.36)mU/ml respectively in observation group, and they were(27.84±1.65)pg/ml,(16.84±2.42)and(16.84±2.38)mU/ml respectively in control group. There was significant difference between the two groups(t=69.158,23.554,23.200,allP0.05).Twelve months after surgery, the levels of E2,FSH and LH were(48.73±1.53)pg/ml,(7.85±1.49)and(7.62±1.57)mU/ml respectively in observation group, and they were(21.36±1.38)pg/ml,(18.54±3.92)and(18.73±3.28)mU/ml respectively in control group.Significant difference was found between the two groups(t=89.110,17.100,20.495,allP0.05).ConclusionMyomectomy for uterine fibroids can maintain a relatively stable ovarian endocrine function in patients, while hysterectomy is able to directly affect the ovarian function.
