Title: Effect of phenylacetate on apoptosis in rat C6 glioma cells in vivo
Abstract: Objective To observe the effect of phenylacetate(PA) on apoptosis in rat C6 glioma cells in vivo. Methods C6 cells were transplanted into the brain of Wistar rats and 20 glioma models were established.10 rats in treatment group were administered PA by peritoneal injection, while 10 rats in control group were administered 0.9% sodium chloride solution. The rats were observed and specimens were collected just before dying. The pathologic changes were observed by HE staining.Apoptosis was detected by TUNEL assay. Results 20 glioma models were established successfully. The survival time of treatment group(31.3±3.1)d was longer than that of control group(23.4±3.8)d.TUNEL assay showed that the rate of apoptosis in treatment group(27.1±2.6)% was higher than that of control group(1.8±0.3)%.Conclusions PA can inhibit the growth of glioma and induce apoptosis in rat C6 glioma cells in vivo.
