Title: Real-time 3-dimension echocardiography in the evaluation of right ventricular function:comparison with MRI
Abstract: Objective:To study the accuracy of real-time 3-dimentional echocardiography(3-DE) in the evaluation of right ventricular function. Methods:Of 34 consecutive patients with clinically suspected or being diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, real time 3-DE and MR scanning were performed within one week. The result of MRI was considered as the standard, and the accuracy of end-systolic volume(ESV),end-diastolic(EDV) and ejection fraction(EF) of right ventricle obtained by real time 3-DE were compared with that of MRI and analyzed. Results:Totally 30 patients accomplished both real time 3-DE and MR examination successfully. The ESV and EDV of right ventricle obtained by the two modalities had statistically significant differences(t=-4.97,P=0.00;t=-5.72,P=0.00 respectively),but no statistical difference was existed in the EF of right ventricle(t=-0.14,P=0.89).Conclusion:The EF of right ventricle measured by real time 3-DE was accurate and reliable, yet the accuracy of ESV and EDV of right ventricle measured by 3-DE had some difference compared with that of MRI,further improvement is needed.
