Abstract:Objective:To analyze the imaging features and evaluate the diagnostic value of ultrasonography in atypical liver abscess.Methods:32 patients with atypical liver abscess were retrospectively analyzed,3...Objective:To analyze the imaging features and evaluate the diagnostic value of ultrasonography in atypical liver abscess.Methods:32 patients with atypical liver abscess were retrospectively analyzed,3 patients were studied with contrast-enhanced ultrasound.All cases were comfirmed by clinical followup aspiration biopsy.Results:The manifestation of atypical liver abscess on ultrasonography varied with the clinical course and exhibited pathologic changes,solid low echo,equal echo and high echo image with ill-defined margins,and irregular shape with inhomogeneous internal echoes uneven distribution.Contrast-enhanced ultrasound demonstrated low echo image of the lesion but the margin was better demarcated without enhancement than it.Conclusion:The ultrasonic imaging features of alypical liver abscess were intricate and variable.By careful analysis and close follow up,ultrasonography proves valuable in the diagnosis of atypical liver abscess especially with the aid of contrast study and ultrasound guided aspiration.Read More
