Title: Effect of a series of polyurethane containing mesogenic unit on mechanical properties of polyurethane elastomers
Abstract: A series of polyurethane containing rigid chain liquid crystal unit and flexible chain(LCPU) were synthesized. Hydroxyl-terminated tetrahydrofuran-ethylene oxide copolymer was used as the fundamental material,polyisocyanate N-100 was used as the curing agent, the effect of this kind of LCPU on mechanical properties of polyurethane elastomers was investigated. The results showed that the five LCPU with different flexible chain length had different effect on the mechanical properties of polyurethane elastomers when the content of LCPU was varied in polyurethane elastomers, the tensile strength and the breaking elongation of the modified polyurethane elastomers were increased to 1.71 and 9.7 times,respectively,as much as that of unmodified polyurethane elastomers.
