Title: Observation of bronchial asthma at remission treated by the combined traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine treatment
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of the combined traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine treatment on lung function and inflammatory factors in patients with bronchial asthma at remission. Methods 60 patients with bronchial asthma in remission stage were randomly divided into two groups.Control group(n=30) was given Montelukast,salmeterol/ fluticasone propionate therapy, treatment for 3 months.Treatment group was given Chinese medicine for strengthening lung and nourishing kidney on the basis of conventional therapy. The course was 14 days.3 courses were carried on.The clinical efficacy was observed.Lung function, eosinophil count and cytokines were measured before and 12 weeks after treatment. Results The total effective rate in treatment group(96.67%) was higher than that in control group(80.00%,P0.05).FEV1 and IL-12 after treatment was increased as compared with that before treatment in two groups(P0.05).Peak expiratory flow(PEF) circadian volatility, eosinophil count and IL-4 after treatment was decreased as compared with that before treatment in two groups(P0.05).The improvement in treatment group was superior to that in control group(P0.05).Conclusion Chinese medicine for strengthening lung and nourishing kidney combined with western medicine can significantly improve lung function of bronchial asthma in remission, adjust the levels of cytokines.
