Title: Study of Different Animal Types on the Prediction Equations of Lean Percentage in Swine Carcasses
Abstract: The objective of this study was to assess the lean-meat percentage(y) calibration equation of different swine carcasses. The usual predictors had been used: hot carcass weight, backfat of different parts measured on each carcass with ruler. On the base of the commercial cutting multiple regression analysis of dissectible lean meat % on linear form of carcass weight and backfat was performed by SAS(SAS version 8).The prediction equations obtained were available. As might be expected, considerable differences were found between prediction equations for separate sub-groups of swine representing different crossbreeds and/or different fattening systems.Several factors, inducing instability of these prediction equations were also discussed in this paper.
