Title: Effects of target controlled infusion of propofol on electrocorticography during epileptic foci resection
Abstract: Objective To investigate the effects of target controlled infusion (TCI) of propofol on electrocorticography (ECoG) during epileptic foci resection. Methods Twenty-two epileptic patients undergoing epileptic foci resection were anesthetized with intravenous midazolam, propofol, fentanyl, and vecuronium. After exposure of brain cortex, ECoG was recorded and analyzed under general anesthesia with TCI of different concentrations of propofol 1.5, 3, and 4.5μg/ml. Results The frequency of αwave was somewhat accelerated and the epileptic pike-wave complexes were retained. Conclusion TCI of propofol can be used as a good choice for the patients undergoing epileptic foci resection patients.
