Title: Madigan's prostatectory for benign prostatic hyperplasia
Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To explore the experience of Madigan's prostatectory for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). METHODS: Clininal data of 17cases of BPH were analysed retrospectively. RESULTS: The posterior urethra has been kept intact in 14 cases whereas there was a minor injury in 3. The patients have been followed up for 2-26 months. The average preoperative IPSS was 26 3, The Q max 18 7ml/s. No urethral stricture incontinence or impotence occurred. CONCLUSION: The prostatectory with reserving the prostatic urethra is an ideal surgical procedure for the treatment of BPH for its quick recovery, short hospitalization time, less complication and bleeding after operation.
