Title: Brain protective effects of ginkgo biloba extract(shuxuening) combined with edaravone in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass
Abstract: Objective To investigate the brain protective effects of Ginkgo biloba extract combined with edaravone undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB).Methods 86 patients with rheumatic heart disease of ASA gradeⅡ-Ⅲ,who were scheduled for mitral valve replacement with intravenous anaesthesia were randomly divided into 2 groups.Treatment group(42 patients)treated with edaravone 0.5 mg/kg in 250 ml normal saline by intravenous driping before CPB and Shuxuening 1 mg/kg in CPB priming solution;the control group(44 patients)treated with 250 ml normal saline and no treatment with CPB priming solution.Blood was obtained from internal jugular vein at 7 time points:just before CPB start(T1),30 min after CPB start(T2),2 h after CPB(T3),6 h after CPB(T4),12 h after CPB(T5),24 h after CPB(T6),48 h after CPB(T7).At each time point plasma S-100 β and NSE concentration was determined by ELISA from venous blood. Results Plasma S-100 β and NSE concentration rose after CPB started. The concentrate of the treatment group was significantly lower than the control group before T7(P0.05).Conclusions For patients undergoing mitral valve replacement with CPB,the rise of plasma S-100 β and NSE concentration can be attenuated by Ginkgo biloba extract combine with edaravone. It has protective effect on brain injury during CPB.
