Title: A Critical Review of Giddens' Theory of Late Modernity
Abstract: In Anthony Giddens' theory of late modernity,he explores such issues as disintegration of time and space,disembedding,trust,anxiety,self-identification,institutionalization of modernity and globalization, which reflects his theoretical orientation in which he,as one of the representatives of post-modernist theories of sociology, tries to go beyond the binary thinking of the subjective and the objective to understand the empirical and integrative nature of society by unifying the subject and the object, and the subjective and the objective. However, this paper points out that Giddens fails to give an in-depth and systematic treatment to science and technology, which have an increasingly far-reaching impact on social and sociological studies.
