Title: Effect of Huxinkang on Atherosclerosis s CD40L and IL-1 Beta in Rabbits
Abstract: Objective: To study the effects of Huxinkang( 护心康片) on s CD40 L and interleukin-1 beta(IL-1β) in aorta of atherosclerotic(AS) rabbits. Methods: The experimental model of AS was established by some rabbits. Rabbits were divided into 4groups,which included blank control group,model group,Huxinkang group and simvastatin group. In addition to the normal group with normal diet,the other groups were fed by high fat diet. Established rabbit model of atherosclerosis successfully at the end of 12 th week. Huxinkang [1.08 g/(kg·d)] was administered through intra gastric pathway in Huxinkang group and Simvastatin [2.5 mg/(kg·d)] was administered through intra gastric pathway in Simvastatin group for four weeks. Meanwhile the same volume of normal saline(NS) was administered in normal group and model group. After 16 weeks,content of s CD40 L and IL-1βwere detected by ELISA methods. Results: The results of ELISA showed Huxinkang group can significantly decrease the serum s CD40 L,IL-1βlevels(P0.01). Conclusions: Huxinkang has a significant inhibitory effect on proinflammatory cytokine s CD40 L and IL-1β,which may be partially responsible for its anti AS effects.
