Title: Lesion of Coronary Artery and the Risk Factors of Male and Female Patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction
Abstract: Objective To analyze the clinical features, coronary stenosis severity and risk factors of male and female patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods Retrospective analysis was carried out in 278 patients with acute myocardial infarction, including 61 female patients and 217 male patients. The clinical data of the two groups were compared, including patient's gender, age, history of diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, hypercholesterolemia, attack of typical angina pectoris before admission, change of the ST segment, severity of coronary stenosis and occurrence of heart failure during hospitalization stay. Results The female patients were older than the male patients; the percentages of female patients with history of diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, hypertension, and occurrence of heart failure during hospitalization stay were higher than those of the male patients, while the percentages of hypercholesterolemia, typical electrocardiogram changes, and severe coronary stenosis were lower in the female group. In the male group, the changes of the ST segment were related to coronary stenosis severity degree; in female group, history of diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia, and the situation of smoking, typical angina pectoris, electrocardiogram ST changes and heart failure were related to typical coronary stenosis severity degree. Conclusions The clinical features, severity of coronary stenosis and other risk factors were different between male and female patients with acute myocardial infarction.
