Title: Pharmacological effects of Qidan tongmai tablet on hyperlipemia
Abstract: AIM To investigate the pharmacological effects of Qidan Tongmai Tablet (QDTMT) on hyperlipemia in laboratory rat model and human patients. METHODS Rats were fed on a high fat diet for 2wk to establish a rat model of hyperlipemia. QDTMT was administered to the rats by gastrogavage. On the 15th day, blood was taken from the orbital veins of the rats for the assay and the blood lipid indexes of the rats were compared before and after the drug therapy.82 hyperlipemia patients were randomized into QDTMT group and polysaccharide sulphate (PSS) group as control group. 4 wk after the therapies with QDTMT and PSS respectively, the lipids were assayed and compared with those before the therapies. RESULTS QDTMT significantly decreased the total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL C) ( P 0.05, P 0.01) in the serum of QDTMT subjects and a rise was observed in high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL C). CONCLUSION QDTMT can improve blood lipid level both experimentally and clinically.
