Title: Efficacy of sufentanil combined with 0.75% ropivacaine in epidural anaesthesia for hypogastric surgeries
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To investigate efficacy of sufentanil combined with 0.75% ropivacaine in epidural anaesthesia.METHODS Forty ASA Ⅰ and Ⅱ patients for appendectomy ,or uterine or adnexal surgery under epidural anaesthesia were randomly assigned to receive an initial dose of 13.3 mL 0.75% ropivacaine(100 mg) plus 15 microg of sufentanil (group Ⅱ,n=20),or 13.3 mL 0.75% ropivacaine(100 mg) (group Ⅱ,n=20). Epidural catheter was placed at T_ 12 -L_ 1 or L_ 1-2 and a test dose of 4 mL was given,5 min later when no signs of subarachnoid injection was evident, another 9.3 mL was given.Onset time of sensory block was time to achieve sensory block at T_ 10 .Postoperative pain was assessed using the visual analog scale (VAS),duration of complete analgesia was defined as the time from the end of the last injection to VAS score 0,duration of effective analgesia was defined as the time to VAS score or=4. Efficacy in preventing visceral traction response, height of sensory block, degree of motor block (Bromage scale) and side effects were assessed.HR,BP,SpO_ 2 were monitored.RESULTS Onset time of sensory block was significantly shorter, duration of complete analgesia and duration of effective analgesia were significantly longer, efficacy in preventing visceral traction response was significantly better, height of sensory block was significantly higher in the group Ⅰ as compared with groupⅡ(P 0.05 ).CONCLUSION The epidural injection of 15 microg of sufentanil added to 0.75% ropivacaine could reduce onset time of sensory block, prolonge duration of postoperative analgesia, inhibite visceral traction response(improving quality of anesthesia) without affecting degree of motor block.
