Abstract: Objective To analyze the safety of esomeprazole in the treatment of elderly patients with gastric ulcer. Methods Sixty-eight elderly patients with gastric ulcer treated in our hospital from 2012 to 2013 were divided into two groups. The control group received omeprazole treatment and the observation group received esomeprazole treatment. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was analyzed comparatively. Results The clinical total effective treatment rate of the observation group was 94.1% and that of the control group was only 73.5%, with significant difference(P 0.05); The Hp elimination rates of the observation group and the control group were 88.2% and 67.6% respectively, with significant difference(P 0.05); The incidences of adverse reactions of the observation group and the control group were 8.8% and 14.7% respectively, with significant difference(P 0.05). Conclusion The application of esomeprazole in the treatment of elderly patients with gastric ulcer is conducive to improving the clinical effective treatment rate and reducing the occurrence of adverse reactions and has high safety, thereby worthy of promotion.
