Title: Relationship between self-injury and depression or anxiety among the tuition-free normal college students
Abstract: Objective To investigating the general situation of tuition-free Normal College student s' self-injury and the relationship between self-injury behavior and negative emotion such as anxiety and depression.Methods By using self-injury behavior scale,self-rating anxiety scale and center for epidemiological survey of depression scale to investigate 470 tuition-free normal college students who were recruited by random sampling method in December 2012.Results ①75.17% of tuition-free Normal College students had self-injury behavior.There was a significant variation between non-only and only child and a borderline significance between male students and female students( P 0.05).②The detection rates of anxiety and depression were 66.59% and 40.89%,which all had significant variation with Chinese norms( P 0.001).③The self-injury behavior of the tuition-free normal college students' had a significant moderate correlation with anxiety( r = 0.42,P 0.001) and depression( r = 0.42,P 0.001).Conclusion①The occurrence rate of self-injury behavior of tuition-free normal college student were higher than that of the ordinary youth,and the only child is higher than non-only child.②The average scores of negative emotion had a significant variation with that of Chinese norms.③Self-injury behavior had the moderate positive correlations with anxiety and depression.
