Title: Study on Copolymerization Emulsion of Vinyl Triethoxyl Silane & Acrylate.
Abstract: Silicone/acrylate copolymer emulsion with excellent stability of polymerization and performance was prepared by copolymerization of vinyl triethoxy silane(VTES) and acrylate monomers, taking poly(butyl acrylate) as seed emulsion. The effects of VTES content on the stability of emulsion polymerization, particle size and distribution of the emulsion were discussed in detail. The particle size and distribution was characterized by dynamic light scattering. Morphology of the emulsion particles was indicated by transmission electron microscopy(TEM). In the mean time, viscosity of emulsion and water resistance of emulsion film was studied. The result shows that the average particle size increases gradually with protracted polymerization time. The morphology of the emulsion particles is spherical, with core shell structure. During the process of copolymerization, with the increasing content of VTES,the stability of emulsion polymerization becomes bad,the average particle size expands, the viscosity of emulsion increases, and water absorption of emulsion film decreases.
