Title: Effects of oxidative stress in hemodialysis patients with simvastatin state
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To study the effect of simvastatin on oxidative stress of patients during maintenance hemodialysis(MHD).METHODS 50 patients with chronic renal failure during MHD were randomly divided into treatment group(n = 26)and control group(n = 24).Both groups were administered routine therapy for one month. The treated patients were given additionally simvastatin 20mg.RESULTS The serum levels of SOD and MDA as well as the lipid profile inpatients were observed before and after one month treatment. The results showed that the serum levels of SOD in treatment of patients were significantly high compared with control group.Similarly, patients after one month consecutive simvastalin treatment were significantly high.Whereas the serum level of MDA was significantly low,and it was lower than that before treatment(P﹤0.05).There was no significant difference on the serum levels of SOD and MDA before and after treatment(P﹥0.05).CONCLUSION The simvastatin could significantly inhibit oxidative stress in patients during MHD.
