Title: Risk factors for nosocomial infections in senile dementia patients
Abstract: OBJECTIVE To summarize and analyze the clinical features of nosocomial infections in senile dementia patients.METHODS Totally 76 senile dementia patients with nosocomial infections who enrolled in hospital were set as the observation group, and 76 senile dementia patients without nosocomial infections were set as the control group, the clinical data and the treatment information of the patients were compared and studied, the risk factors for nosocomial infections in the senile dementia were analyzed.RESULTS The combination of diabetes, use of antibiotics, dysphagia, and continued catheterization, and the hospital stay more than 120 days were the high risk factors for nosocomial infections in senile dementia patients;the proportion of the patients with combined tumor, hypoalbuminemia, the use of antipsychotics, prolonged bed test and the size greater than 3-bed ward in the observation group was significantly larger than that of the control group(P0.05);totally 65 strains of pathogens were cultured from 76 of 80 case-times patients, mainly including Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumoniae, and fungi.CONCLUSION To take corresponding prevention measures aiming at the high risk factors for the nosocomial infections in the senile dementia patients can reduce the incidence of nosocomial infections.
