Title: Theoretical Basis of Task-based Course Design
Abstract: As a teaching method, task-based language teaching has been widely studied and applied. However, it is not only a teaching method, but also a new approach that is based on second language acquisition theories. This paper probes into the theoretical basis of task-based course design. It argues that task-based course design embodies the achievements of new curriculum theory, view of linguistic competence, new learning theory, new assessment theory of language and the empirical research of psycholinguistics.
