Title: Effects of Combined Application of Organic and Inorganic Fertilizer on Yield and Quality of Tomato
Abstract: The field experiment was carried out to study the application effects of different combinations of organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer on the tomato yield, nutritional quality and safety quality. The results indicated that the application of chemical fertilizer combined with organic fertilizer increased the tomato yield under the condition of the same nitrogen rate. And the yield of the treatment with the combining rate of organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer as 6∶4 was higher. The soluble sugar and acid contents were increased in tomato fruits fertilized with chemical fertilizer, while the vitamin C content in the fruits was the highest in the treatment of organic fertilizer. The fruit taste and nutritional quality were also the best in the organic-fertilizer treatment. The nitrate concentration in tomato fruits was significantly lower when treated with organic fertilizer compared to the treatments of chemical fertilizer and chemical fertilizer combined with organic fertilizer. But the nitrite concentration in fruits was comparatively lower in the treatments of chemical fertilizer and organic fertilizer combined with high-rate chemical fertilizer. However, the nitrate and nitrite concentrations in tomato fruits of all the experiment treatments were significantly lower than the Chinese standard.
