Title: Postoperative epidural analgesia with ropivacaine combined fentanyl in patients underwent thoracic surgery
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the clinical outcomes of postoperative epidural analgesia with ropivacaine combined with fentanyl in patients underwent thoracic surgery. Methods Seventy two male patients aged from 18 to 65 years old underwent selective thoracotomy were randomized into three groups, with 24 cases each.Patient-controlled epidural analgesia(PCEA) was used with ropivacaine 0.15% plus fentanyl 1 g/ml in group A,plus fentanyl 2 g/ml in group B,or plus fentanyl 2 g/ml in group C.Visual analog scale(VAS) pain scores at calm and during coughing were evaluated and side effects were recorded during analgesia. Results At 2,4,8 h after operation,VAS scores at calm and during coughing of group B and C were less than that of group A(P0.05);At 16 h after operation,VAS scores during coughing of group B and C were less than that of group A(P0.05).PCEA pushing was lower in group B and C than that in group A(P0.01).Conclusion PCEA with 0.15% ropivacaine combined fentanyl 1,2 or 3 g/ml provides a satisfectory analgesic efficacy in patients underwent thoracic surgery.Ropivacaine 0.15% combined with fentanyl 2 μg/ml is preferable recommendation with lower incidence of adverse events.
