Title: Expression and clinical significance of SOX2 protein in colorectal cancer
Abstract: Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of SOX2 protein in colorectal cancer. Methods Immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of SOX2 protein in 80 colorectal cancer tissues and 20 normal bowel mucosa tissues. Results The SOX2 protein was not expressed in normal bowel mucosa, but it highly expressed in colorectal cancer, and the positive rate was 41.3%.The expression of SOX2 was correlated with TNM staging, tumor infiltration depth, lymph node metastasis, the expression of Ki-67 and p53(P0.05).5-year overall survival rate and disease-free survival rate of the highly expressed SOX2 group were 39.4% and 21.2%,respectively;while in the lowly expressed SOX2 group were 95.7% and 83%,respectively.There were significant differences between the two groups(P=0.000).Conclusion The SOX2 protein is not expressed in normal colorectal mucosal, but highly expressed in colorectal cancer tissues.Expression level of SOX2 protein is a useful marker for predicting the metastasis and prognosis of colorectal cancer.
