Title: CT Manifestations of Cervical Lymph Node Metastasis in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To study the CT manifestations of cervical lymph node metastases in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Methods CT appearances of cervical lymph node metastases in nasopharyngeal carcinoma proved by aspiration biopsy and comparison after radiotherapy in 212 patients were reviewed.Results Of these 212 cases,level Ⅱ and level Ⅲ lymph node metastases were found in 144 cases and 8 cases respectively.No case was found for single Level Ⅳ、Ⅴ、Ⅵ or Ⅶ lymph node metastases.Level Ⅱ and other level lymph node metastases were found in 60 cases.Lymph node metastases were found in unilateral and bilateral neck in 74 and 138 cases respectively.64 cases were shown as homogeneous enhancement and 148 cases as heterogeneous enhancement in the metastatic lymph nodes after administration of contrast medium.The shape of metastatic lymph nodes was circular in 152 cases and oval in 18 cases.Partial lymph nodes were mixed together in 42 cases.Conclusion In nasopharyngeal carcinoma,cervical lymph node metastases develops from upper to lower part,which relates to the drainage pathway of lymph nodes.
