Title: Results of malaria surveillance in Linyi city in 2001-2011
Abstract: Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of malaria in Linyi in 2001-2011 and provide scientific evidence to further control.Methods Data concerning malaria infection and blood examination of malaria patients in Linyi city during the years of from 2001-2011 were collected and analyzed.Results A total of 53 malaria cases were reported with an average annual incidence of malaria was 0.047/100 000 population in Linyi city from 2001 to 2011 and the incidence rate showed a slight rise in 2005-2008 and average annual incidence was 0.092 /100 000 population There were 37 laboratory and 16 clinical diagnosed cases.There were 44 Plasmodium vivax malaria cases accounted for 83% of total cases and 9 Plasmoium falciparum malaria cases accounted for 17%.There were 22 indigenous cases accounted for 41.5% and 31 imported cases accounted for 58.5%.Most of cases were farmers and at age of 20-45 years.Most infections were in September and October accounted for 60.3%.Positive rate in blood examination of fever patients was 0.087‰.Conclusion The incidence of malaria maintained at a very low level in Linyi from 2001 to 2011.Emphasis be put on strengthening the management of floating?population and preventing imported cases.
