Title: Outpatient Utilization of Antibiotics a 3-A Hospital in Guangzhou:Analysis of 3000 Cases
Abstract: OBJECTIVE:To review the utilization of antibiotics in a 3-A hospital in Guangzhou for reference for clinical rational medication.METHODS:A total of 3 000 outpatient prescriptions randomly collected from a 3-A hospital in Guangzhou were analyzed statistically with regard to drug variety,consumption sum and dosage forms by taking DDDs as indicators.RESULTS:Of the 3 000 prescriptions reviewed,antibiotic use occupied 31.56% and the most widely used categories were cephalosporins,penicillins,and fluoroquinolones.The consumption sum of antibiotics occupied 36.98% of total,with one-kind antibiotic prescriptions showing the highest proportion.Of the drug combination schemes,combination of two drugs showed the highest proportion,while the combination of 3 antibiotics were few,and combination of 4 antibiotics has not been noted.Application of a few compound preparations was noted.Oral dosage forms took a lead.CONCLUSION:The use of antibiotics in this hospital is generally rational yet far from perfect,thus we must adhere to the principle of safe,effective,economic and rational drug use and eliminate the abuse of antibiotics.
