Title: Catalytic synthesis of benzaldehyde glycol acetal with SO_4~(2-)/TiO_2-MoO_3
Abstract: Benzaldehyde glycol acetal was synthesized from benzaldehyde and glycol in the presence of SO 4 2- /TiO 2-MoO 3. The factors influencing the synthesis were discussed and the optimum conditions were found out. The optimum conditions are: molar ratio of benzaldehyde to glycol is 1:1.3, the quantity of catalyst is equal to 0.75% of feed stocks, and the reaction time is 40 min. SO 4 2- /TiO 2-MoO 3 is an excellent catalyst for synthesizing benzaldehyde glycol acetal and its yield can reach over 82.7%.
