Title: Expression and Clinical Significance of Proliferating Cell Nuclear Antigen and P27 Protein in Elderly Patients with Gastric Cancer
Abstract: Objective: To investigate the expression and clinical significance of proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA) and P27 protein(P27) in elderly patients with gastric cancer. Methods: A total of 58 elderly patients with gastric cancer were selected. The expressions of PCNA and P27 protein of the patients were detected by immunohistochemical SP method, analysing their relationship with clinical and biological behavior of elderly patients with gastric cancer. Results: The positive expression rate of PCNA in elderly patients with gastric cancer group was significantly higher than that in control group. The positive expression rate of P27 protein in elderly patients with gastric cancer group was significantly lower than that in control group. The expressions of PCNA and P27 protein were closely related to whether or not elderly patients with gastric cancer had serosal invasion, histological grade, lymph node metastasis, and TNM staging(P all0.01).The expression of PCNA and P27 protein was negatively correlated(r=-0.536,P0.05).Conclusion: The overexpression of PCNA and the decreased expression of P27 protein play an important role in occurrence and development of elderly gastric cancer, but the specific mechanism of interaction between the two remains to be further studied.
