Title: MR Imaging Manifestations of Vertebral Chordomas
Abstract: Objective To study the MR imaging characteristics of vertebral chordoma.Materials and Methods MR appearance of 33 cases with vertebral chordoma were analyzed. Results There are 24 cases of lesions located in the sacrococcygeal region, 6 cases in the cervical vertebra, 2 cases in the thoracic vertebra, and 1 case in the lumbar vertebra. Bone destruction and gently expansionary change were existed in the region of vertebra, linked by huge soft tissue masses in front of vertebra. The soft tissue masses were often connected with the sacrum by the acute angle in the mid sagittal slice. 33 cases of vertebral chordomas all were represented as inhomogenous long T_1 and long T_2 signals, with markedly homogenous enhancement in 1 case, inhomogenous enhancement in 11 cases. Conclusion The location, extension, morphology, characteristics of signals and pattern enhancement manifestation of the chordomas can be clearly displayed, and most of them can be correctly diagnosed before the operation.
